Striped Bass Bonus Program Permits Available Online
#1
Striped bass bonus program permits can now be obtained online through the Division of Fish and Wildlife's license Web site. A DEP News Release regarding the program can be found at http://www.nj.gov/dep/newsrel/2007/07_0015.htm .

Making the permits available online, as well as at license agents, makes the process faster and easier than in the past. Permits can still be obtained through the mail. For information on changes in the application and reporting process, as well as a link to the license site where permits can be obtained, visit the Striped Bass Bonus Program page at http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/bonusbas.htm on the Div. of Fish and Wildlife's Web site.

it allows you to keep one extra striper, so after you file and pay a few bucks you would be allowed 3 fish instead of 2.

So I don't need a permit for catch and release then?

No permit needed for catch and release. The idea is you don't know what is on your hook so they can't make you get a permit for it. You could be fishing for bluefish and catch a striper. Also if you catch a limit you can still fish but you have to release everything after your limit.
