How many fishing poles? Depends on the location
#1
LITTLE ROCK - One of those little questions, and misunderstandings, that sometimes pop up among fishermen is how many poles or rods can be used by an angler.

The basic answer is it depends on where you are fishing.

Here is a recent inquiry from a fisherman:

"I enjoy fishing and have always done my best to abide by the rules. I have always understood only two poles were allowed to be in use. I am having trouble understanding the spider rig, such as the one (pictured in a current publication) as being legal. Could you please clear up this confusion for me?

"I just received my lifetime license, and believe me, I want to get all the poles I'm allowed by law in the water."

In Arkansas, you can use as many fishing poles as you want -- except in some areas with restrictions that allow you only one or two poles.

Best way to find this out is to read closely the Arkansas Game and Fish Fishing Regulations Guidebook. Copies are free at license dealers and AGFC office. Any exceptions to the statewide rules are listed under the individual lakes and rivers.
