since last weekend when the n'easter hit us,the natchaug river was well out of its banks,through out the week i have been watching it receade,back within its banks,the state also trying to make the openning day good by restocking some of the most popular places
as normal i left the house at 5:45 to meet my buddy joe,and wayne in chaplin.i get there,to my suprise only 3 cars,this place is normally packed.the large pool upstream from the bridge is empty.my buddies we not there yet.so i got my gear on and went to the pool to wait for them.as soon as i got to the edge of the water,it was 6 am,i made a couple cast with the sinking line on,i get a bump.joe shows up and comes down to me and i told him i had a hit,while we are talking i am casting,and i land a nice rainbow,i release it,make a few more cast another rainbow.in all i landed 15 ,and long distance release about the same number.today was my day to brag since i outfished joe.i dont usually get to do that too often
