But since this is a Trout and Salmon board I thought I would share some of the pics with visitors of this board because I don't know how many of you have visited my state board. If you have seen them I am not bragging I am also using this as a test for different methods of posting pictures.[/size][/#808000][/font]

Do you get any that big in your parts birddog? My biggest so far is a measly 11 pounds. But, knowing that fish like that are around is what keeps me trying! I feel like I have kokanee, and almost any trout figured out. But, the dang lakers still have me baffled! LOL

wow .. sorry I missed this post bkidder. Yea, we get Lakers like that out of Lake Michigan and Lake Superior. We also have a smaller fishery for 'em in Green Lake as well that you can land some nice sized fish on.

Later on in the summer is when we start seeing the 20lb+ fish regularly out on the big pond. Personally, I prefer chasing Kings, Bows and Browns so I never target 'em.. they just appear from time to time. To me Lakers aren't as table friendly and the larger fish over say 4-5lbs get real fatty/oily and they just don't put up the fight as a comparible sized King or Brown.. They're usually up top early on - I should say "dispersed through the water column", but later in the year If a guy wants to chase 'em all ya do is drop your rigger balls to the bottom and start dredging 150-200 FOW off the Sheboygan Harbor.. now that I think about it, a few years back I ran into a few of 'em that actually got air.. not Rainbow acrobatics, but they broke the surface! Thats something they're not exactly famous for so it was a treat for us.

I won't keep anything much over 5lb when it comes to Lakers. But the smaller ones at least out west are rather tasty.[/size][/#808000][/font]

Wyobraz, how are you fishing for those big slob Lakers out there? -or- should I ask what's your favorite way to chase 'em?

You know.. It all comes down to the area and what's available. If I lived out there I'd probably be one of the guys loosing their minds over 'em. I agree fully with having fun trying! The chase (or struggle [] ) is what its about.. catching fish adds to it though!!

My dad and I spent a many days after the browns unfortunatley they have mostly disapeared and all that is left for nice big fish not only in the Flaming Gorge but all the other deep water lakes around my area is the Lake Trout.[/size][/#808000][/font]

[font "Tempus Sans ITC"][#808000][size 3]Without getting into exact details I use two methods, trolling and jigging. It mostly depends on the day, water conditions and what the fish themselves want. All those fish were caught this spring right after ice off of our local waters. I haven't been able to go after the big guys since because of back surgery I had a few weeks back, but I will be out again shortly.[/size][/#808000][/font]

that is one i never got my dang dad wouldnt stop fishing stupid mac long enuf to try the brown's all though him and knapton trolled alot of cold night's for them and only got some smaller ones 6-8# but not me iwas to young to go in that cold or so thay said lol,but macs ive caught 1 or 2 good one's over that 40mark one 46# now if i can just get a 50 then I can stop fishing for the dang thing's lmfao. them's some goodin's brazure.ASH

I sure wish there were browns like there was when we were kids. My dad looked at the Macks like they they were trash fish until the browns started going away, and then he changed over. Once he did and we started trolling for the macks is when I started to hate trolling. I absolutly hate it, I almost would rather not go than have to troll for any fish now days, but I have liked the Kokanee this summer. Man Ash youre sure bringing back some good memories, hopefully our kids 20 years from now will be sitting around remembering thier times on the local pond with the old man.[/size][/#808000][/font]

Who's he think he's foolin'??? I'd be the first to admit, if I had a fishin' spot that produced hunks like that, I would convienently "forget where I was too" - everytime someone asked me where I caught 'em.
