Elk Lake
#1
Fished the opening weekend at Elk Lake. Water was flat and smooth in the morning and did the usual white caps in the afternoon. Schools of cutthroat were swimming near the shore, but we couldn't get them to bite on anything--worm/marshmallow, spinners, power bait, etc. Red Rock Creek was very off-color and nothing was biting on spinners or artificial bait. Went again over Memorial weekend. Same condition on Elk Lake, but did see a couple of fly fishermen pull in a couple of nice ones--possibly using nymphs. Red Rock was clearer and lower this weekend, but still nothing.
