Eagle Cuda 168EX
#1
[Smile] Hi all,

I have seen many glowing reports on the Eagle Cuda 168EX as a good choice of sonar for float tubes. The only problem is when I search the net for sales of this sonar all I find is the Cuda 168 not the EX. Are there any site anyone can direct me to that sell the Cuda 168EX. Also, is there a different sonar rig any of you would recommend?

Thanks in advance!

[cool][#0000ff]I bought 2 EXs on a closeout at Cabelas. Don't think I have seen them anywhere since then. There are lots of new sonars coming out all the time. I have been working to try to put together a new sonar buying guide but am a ways away. I suggest you go directly to the manufacturers...Eagle, Lowrance, Garmin...and look for the models that are under $200, with not too much power or too many bells and whistles. With float tubing we do not need speed readings, etc. We do want temperature guages and a wide cone angle of at least 30 degrees.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Go over to the Picture board and look at the thread I have started on SONAR SHOPPING GUIDE 2007. Click on some of the links and see what you can scare up for a start. Then come on back and we can discuss individual models.[/#0000ff]

I went through the sonar-choosing process not too long ago and finally settled on the Eagle Cuda 242 which I have greatly enjoyed. Not as wide as the EX (if I remember right), but better resolution than the 168. Great little unit.
