Shark Pic's/ 2 week old fishing report!
#1
Well, i'm finally getting the pic's on here after two weeks!!!! So, here they are:

[url "http://www.bigfishtackle.com/photos/showphoto.php/photo/7702/cat/500/ppuser/14478"][Image: 43630298.JPG][/url] The day started off kinda slow. This is my father in law hanging out on the bow of the boat with my sister in law. We had family down from PA this particular week, and they had never been out on the ocean before.

These are pic's of my wife's, sisters, husband battling the shark. That's me to the left with the gloves on getting ready to leader the shark. [Tongue] I have way more fun helping other people catch fish than catching fish myself. It didn't use to be that way. LOL Notice the smooth fighting chair in my boat. You don't see too many 21' boats with a fighting chair along the SC coast.

These are pictures of the shark once I got ahold of the leader. My sister in law got a couple very good pic's of the shark with it's mouth open and everything, but since I don't have her camera, I can't post them. LOL I didn't think this was a tiger at first because of how light colored it was, until I got ahold of the leader and saw the distinct markings on his skin. They must get darker with age. This shark is still a juvinile, since they can reach lengths of over 16'.

I actually lost my damn anchor during the process. LOL I tied a bouy to the end of the anchor line so if I hooked something so big I had to chase it down, I could just toss the anchor line and handle business. I honestly think some jerk off cut the bouy from the anchor, and I think I know who it was. This boat started a drift along side of us as soon as that fish got hooked. They had balloon lines out and wouldn't reel them in. What an "A" hole. The fish actually got tangled in one of his float lines and we almost lost him. I bet it was those guys that cut the bouy off my anchor. If I knew for sure, i'd have contacted the DNR and had that taken care of. I've got Sgt Galloway on speed dial. [Wink] Respect for boaters and anglers sure isn't what it use to be.

Anyhoo, I must have drifted almost a mile while fighting that shark. You can see in the picture it wasn't a big reel at all. That is the custom Lamiglass rod that Bubbashotrods.com made for me with a Penn Mag 990 spooled with 40 pound cajun red line. It might actually have been an IGFA 40 lb class record, I didn't even think to look it up. [Sad] Maybe next time. [Wink] I said i'd catch a world record this year, and I'm pretty sure that was it. That shark was easily over 300 pounds. Big ol' fat dude. [cool] It whooped that poor boys behind, LOL, but it would've whooped mine too. That was a tough fish. We caught him off a live pinfish on the bottom. I wasn't anchored off for more than an hour before he hit. 60 lb steel leader and a 12/0 circle hook is all I was using. Looks like I make a pretty good rig. LOL, if there would have been any weak links, that tiger would have found them. [Smile]

About time I got to see that tiger shark Bryan [Wink] To bad the last trip fell through. We will have to try to figure something else out before summers over. I wouldnt mind a trout fishing trip in the mountains either? If anyone has any ideas for another ga/sc get together lets hear em.
