CNBC will broadcast the two-hour debate beginning at 4 p.m. on Oct. 9, with MSNBC re-broadcasting the event at 9 p.m. the same evening. The debate format, as well as its moderator, will be determined after further discussions with representatives from the respective campaigns.

"This is an opportunity for Michigan to highlight the issues affecting Middle America," said Michigan Republican Party Chairman Saulius "Saul" Anuzis. "Metropolitan Detroit is the home of the Reagan Democrats and this debate on economic issues will give Republican presidential candidates a chance to talk about the issue that affects Michigan families most - jobs. The automotive industry and manufacturing helped create the Middle Class, and this debate will allow voters to hear how the next president of the United States will deal effectively with the one of the most important sectors of our national economy.

"While the Democrat candidates are pledging to avoid appealing to Michigan voters, we're proud to host the Republican candidates right here in Michigan to discuss how we strengthen Michigan and America."

The City of Dearborn, with a population of more than 97,000, borders the City of Detroit and is home of the world headquarters of the Ford Motor Company. Dearborn is ground zero for America's automotive industry, situated within 30 minutes from the corporate headquarters of nation's Big Three automotive manufacturers. Dearborn is also one of Michigan's most ethnically diverse communities, and is home to the largest population of people of Arab ancestry outside the Middle East.
