Pequest Wildlife Heritage Festival
#1
[size 2]Join the NJ Department of Environmental Protection’s Division of Fish and Wildlife as we celebrate National Hunting and Fishing Day on September 30, 2007 from 10:00 – 4:00 at the Pequest Trout Hatchery in Warren County.
This FREE event is fun for the whole family!
Kids between the ages of 8 and 16 will be able to try their hand at fishing in our education pond. We’ll supply all the equipment and instruction for the day. For those kids under 8, we will have our Kiddie Trout Tank stocked with fish from the hatchery. And we’ll even have our casting area set up, where anyone can learn how to cast. There will be other activities for the kids in our Kiddie Tent.
New for this year, the Festival will be attended by the American Fly Fishing School who will be setting up their SIMUL-CAST pond.
There will be a Sportsmen’s Flea Market with vendors and sport shops selling everything you need to get started in fishing and hunting. There will even be fishing guides on hand if you want to book a great fishing trip.
Wildlife artists with wares to sell and conservation groups will be here as well. See what other bureaus in the Division are working on. There will be educational lectures and demonstrations happening throughout the day.
Learn to shoot a bow and arrow or shotgun at our beginning ranges. And for those of you who are experienced bowmen, our free 3-D archery range will be set up. Feel free to bring your own bow and walk the course as you take aim at a variety of targets in realistic settings. The Hunter Education Program will be running a hunter education field session and if you join them on the field walk, you won’t have to do the field walk when you go for your hunter education test.
Food vendors will be on hand if you want to buy your food, if not, feel free to bring your own lunch and enjoy one of our many picnic areas on the property.
