New Kayak Fishing Club
#1
I ran this by Tubedude and he thought it would be OK to post this here. Rocky Mountain Kayak Fishing is a brand new non profit club dedicated to advancing the sport of kayak fishing in the Mountain West. We would like to invite anyone interested in yakfishing to stop by and say hello. We hope to put together a charity tournament next year if we can get enough yakfishers together. We are Utah based, but invite anyone and everyone to stop by and experience this growing sport with us. Thanks

I'm out.

I'm still healing (broken ribs) from my first and last kayaking experience about 4 weeks ago. I went thru the "Rock Garden" in the Weber River (up by Henefer) upside down and backwards and got wrapped around a couple of rocks. [pirate]

Count me in for the kayak fishing club...
I took my kayak outfitted for fishing to the paddle fest at pineview about a month ago...I was the only yak there...maybe next year we can get more.

There is a contest to create a best kayak fishing film...I have a camera and can do a decent job of editing...perhaps we could create a film out of Utah..

Anyway, Eskimo roll on....

PRESS RELEASE
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Reel Paddling Film Festival Announces Best Kayak Fishing Film Category

Palmer Rapids, ON, September 20, 2007- Rapid Media, publishers of Kayak Angler magazine, announces the creation of two new film categories in its 2008 Reel Paddling Film Festival and World Tour. The two new categories are Best Kayak Fishing Film and Best Instructional Paddling Film.

The creation of a kayak fishing film category is a move to showcase kayak fishing and put it in front of 20,000 whitewater paddlers, sea kayakers and canoeists across North America. Film festival Director, Scott MacGregor, is excited to see the festival grow, “It is great to see the Festival expand beyond paddling’s big three and expose audiences to this amazing sport. Kayak fishing films are going to blow paddlers’ minds when they see what’s being caught in kayaks.” Also this year, MacGregor is adding a Best Instructional Paddling Film category because as he says, “There have been some incredibly good instructional films, and they deserve their own category.” Filmmakers receive a $500 cash prize for a category winning film with winners being announced at the Festival premier in early February.

The Reel Paddling Film Festival World Tour will visit over 100 cities in 2008 with an estimated audience size of 20,000. The World Tour is hosted by local clubs, non-profit organizations and paddling shops who use it as a fundraiser, event entertainment and as a spring primer for their paddling customers.

The deadline for film submissions is December 7, 2007. For further details of how to submit a kayak fishing, instructional or any other paddling film, download a 2008 Film Submission Form at [#003399]www.rapidmedia.com[/#003399]. The other film categories include: Best Whitewater Film, Best Sea Kayaking Film, Best Canoeing Film, Best Paddling Adventure Travel, Best Paddling Documentary and Best Short Paddling Film.

Rapid Media has been the leader in paddlesports media and events since 1999. Rapid Media publishes Kayak Angler, Adventure Kayak, Canoeroots, Family Camping, and Rapid magazines, and produces a series of on-water paddling events and the Reel Paddling Film Festival.
