Free youth fishing event hosted by the City of Hawaiian Gardens

LOS ANGELES - Children ages 5-15 are invited to participate in a free youth fishing event hosted by the City of Hawaiian Gardens Department of Recreation and Parks. The fishing event will be at Cerritos Regional Park located at 19800 Bloomfield Ave, on Saturday, October 27, 2007.

This activity is designed to give boys and girls who live in urban areas an opportunity to enjoy a fishing experience in or close to their own neighborhood, with rod &amp; reels, tackle, bait, and assistance provided. Event day onsite registration will begin at 7:00 a.m.; the fishing session will go from 8:00 a.m. to noon, followed by a congratulatory ceremony and drawing.<br />
Anglers age 16 or older can fish at the end of the event, but they must have a California State Fishing License.<br />
The Department of Recreation and Parks is co-sponsoring the derby with the Daniel Hernandez Youth Foundation, the California Department of Fish and Game, County Supervisor Don Knabe Fourth District and the Blue Cross of California Foundation, with the Los Angeles County Police Department, the County Fire Department, and other partners expected to participate.<br />
