Back off that drag
#1
My cousin had a senator 6/0 reel which gave reliable service up until recently when he started losing good sized fish because the drag was not running smoothly. The problem did not lie with reel, but with the way he took care of it.After each fishing trip he would wash the reel down and store it away, but he failed to back off the drag.
After a while the drag washers became warped because of the constant pressure of a tight drag. It is important to have properly functioning washers, or else your drag will not run smoothly. Every time you use yor reel, wash it down to get that salt out, and back completely off that drag. It will save you in the long run.Check yor drag washers regularly, changing them at the first sign of warping.
