Welcome to BFT! Make sure to check out all of the boards, including the regional boards that include Idaho. I can't wait to get the boat out either! I'm in Utah and I'm enjoying the ice fishing... but, nothing like fishing with the boat.

So, what are your favorite rigs to use for lake trout? I fish for them on Flaming Gorge and they are a lot of fun.

I've just recently been bitten by the laker bug but so far the lures Ive used are Apex, flatfish, muddler minnows, some plugs and Frisky Jenny trolling flies.I'm going to try drop shotting technics also as a local fishing show has great success doing that.Theres a good article on doing this at www.axfishing.com.

Yeah, lakers can be addictive. Thats an interesting article on finesse fishing for lakers. Good stuff to consider. I have used most of the lures you listed in the past as well. Plugs and rapala's used to be my go-to's. I have done better recently on lucky craft lures (which are basically a better rapala). I've also done well vertical jigging with radical glow tube jigs. That is really my go-to these days (unless it gets too windy to vertical jig, then out come the lucky crafts for trolling). Here is the website for radical glow if you want to check out their tubes www.radicalglow.com

Have you ever vertical jigged for lakers?

I havent tried jigging for them yet but I picked up a glow jigging sppon the other day to try out come spring.I hear that nails them pretty good. As far as that drop shotting thing,ID like to try and find some plastic bait that resembles kokanee as thats what they fffed on in my lakes up here.Know of any?

I dont know. Maybe a big swimbait would work. For imitating a kokanee I'd try and get a dark back and a light belly. Color isn't that important in deep water, but I'd try and get that dark/light contrast. That lateral line is important I'm sure. Here is a link to a company that makes some really good swimbaits. I've not tried them for lakers, so let me know if you do!
