In need of advice
#1
Hi there everyone,
I'm new to the board and was hoping that I could get some advice. I am going to be working in the Minnesota BWCA on the Gunflint Trail this summer and I have never fished in that environment. My fishing experience is limited to jigging for walleye and panfish on Castle Rock lake near the Wisconsin Dells and I am unsure if this technique is a good idea out of a canoe or kayak in the bwca. Any general tips or recommendations for technique, gear and tackle would be appreciated. I was also curious what kind of pole would be best suited for this type of angaling?

It sounds like you have the techniques down. You should be able to use the same techniques from the Yak. You may need a few different colors than what you are used to depending on the color of the water, depth and clarity.

A medium light to light rod should do you fine. Do you use more spinning or Baitcasting?? I can suggest a good combo for you that works well in a Yak.[cool]
