Furled Leaders
#1
For those of you who don't know what this is, it is a leader made from several strands of Thread, Nylon, Mono, Fluoro, etc tapered. NOT BRAIDED!, but furled. There is a difference. Braided sprays water all over where furled doesn't.
Anyway, I have been making them for a few years now. I prefer Uni Thread 6/0. They turn over so beautiful and there is never a memory thing to deal with.
I have a board set up with pegs at different lengths to get a good taper. I was using a DeWaltt drill and doing one side at a time with a clamp in the middle. Well, several people who take their furling very serious gave me the idea to do both at once. Got on e-bay and bought a Conair Hair Braider (I know I said not braided and this really isn't a braider) It does both at the same time and is light as heck.
I also use a tiny silver ring for the tippet end.
Here is a little slide show we did tonight.

you said you use little rings for the tippet end.. the ones you sent me before had little loops tied into them?? did you change over to the metal rings recently??
