Trophy Muskie Size Limits Proposed For 41 Wisconsin Waters
A new proposal might add dozens of lakes and rivers to the list of more than 800 Wisconsin waters managed for trophy muskies. If approved, the proposal will boost the percentage of trophy muskie waters in Wisconsin from 1 percent to 6 percent.
The proposal involves increasing the minimum length limit to 50 inches on 38 waters in Vilas and Oneida counties, and to 45 inches on three Dane County waters. The proposal was introduced in response to surveys conducted during 1989 and '99, in which anglers said they wanted more opportunities to catch trophy muskies, which they identified as being 50 inches or longer.

In other Wisconsin news, an online boating safety course is now available through the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. It's geared toward youths ages 12 to 16, who must pass an approved course to operate a boat on state waters.
