What is long range fishing
#1
I'm sure some guys from wherever midwest ,TEXAS, or back east are wondering what the heck is this longe range fishing that these guys take about

All these boats are out the San Diego.They treat and feed you like kings.My first LR trip will be a 5 day on the Royal Star.Book early to make sure you get on a trip.If you want a trip in July or August you better book by december.If you have questions I'm sure someone can help you out or lead you to the right person like someone affilated to the boat

Well here it is.

There are about 10 true long range boats.

What separates these from the others are the quality of the food(five star),experience,along with space, and luxury

I define a long range boat as a boat that do mostly 3 day trips up to 21 days.
The three day trips will land you as far as 250 miles away and as close as 40-50 miles away.It gives that extra time where the overnighter boat have no choice but to fish the 50-100 mile distance even if the bite is 150 miles down.The four days trips are pretty much the same as the 3 but if guadalupe island is hot and nowhere else is they may run even though u may not get you fish all that much.
price=$750-1000

Tackle=
15,20,25,30,40,60,80.Of course if you don't have that you can scratch the 80 and use the boats stuff.Two speeds are nice.Look at the boats websites for more detail.Those are little off.Just post here if you nee help on an outfit.Someone will know

The five day trips will fish at San benitos,Cedros or Guadlupe for big yellows,yellowfin, and they will fish offshore if there is a bite for albacore and bluefin.Guadlupe is famous for the big great white sharks.
price$1100-1400(excel or polaris supreme)

you don't see too many 6 day trips besides skiff trips that run to cedros for bass that bite like crazy.Then they will fish offshore sometimes and go for big yellows when the boat is anchored and you are waiting for a skiff to come in so you can go out.
Price=$1500-1800

The 7 day trips run down to the Alijo Rocks where thor went am I correct?Where there's wahoo,bluefin,yellowfin,misc. bottom fish and yellowtail.
Price= about $1500

I won't go into much more detail than this.Becuase if you are going to try long range you ar better off trying a shorter trip like these before you go on the 14 dayers.

These prices don''t include tip(tip how you would a waiter if not better),permits($15 a day),fish cleaning if you want it done, and bevages.Plus you must furnish your own tackle or rent tackle.

Here are some of the boats website:

http://www.royalstarsportfishing.com
http://www.shogunsportfishing.com
http//:www.excelsportfishing.com
http://www.royalpolaris.com
http://www.qualifier105.com
http://www.angelfire.com/fl/dunnman/spirit.html
http://www.polarissupreme.com

These are just some of the boats.

Edited by hara on 07/27/01 09:05 PM.
