WATERBURY, VT - Public hearings for proposed Vermont fishing regulation changes on muskie, walleyes and fishing on the Winooski River will be held March 10th, 11th and 12th by the Vermont Fish and Wildlife Board.
The proposed regulation changes would:
1. Establish a catch-and-release fishing season for muskie;
2. Standardize statewide a May 1- March 15 fishing season, three fish per day daily limit, and 18-inch minimum length for walleye and sauger;<br />
3. Close fishing during the spawning season (second Saturday in April - May 31) in Pinneo Brook, Ridley Brook, Joiner Brook and Preston Brook, all tributaries to the Winooski River downstream from Waterbury.
The hearings will all be held from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the following locations:
March 10 - North Country Union Jr. High School, Derby<br />
March 11 - Essex Fish & Wildlife office conference room, 111 West Street, Essex Junction<br />
March 12 - Skylight Conference Room, Agency of Natural Resources, Waterbury
"This is part of our continuing effort to improve Vermont's fishing regulations, standardizing them where possible to make them easier to remember, and ensuring that our fisheries stay healthy so we can continue to enjoy them in the future," said Vermont Fish & Wildlife Commissioner Wayne Laroche.
