Hello, I'm Clueless
#1
Hi! I'm clueless about anywhere to fish in Dane County, Wisconsin. I have gone fishing only once, and didn't catch anything. I know that's probably normal, but I would like to catch somthing this summer.

Does anyone know a good place to fish, and if so what type of bait the fish like? I'm trying to stay away from killing anything, I'm a vegetarian.

Thanks for the help,

Thank you so much, I'll look at those parks. Do you happen to live anywhere near the Wisconsin River? I'm going on a camping trip really close to there and I want to know if it's worth packing all my fishing stuff.

Thanks,

sorry, I am about 350 miles east, near the detroit river....

I generaly carry a genneral tackle box with a little of every thing. unless I am planning on targeting something spiffic.

ya never know what you will run in to, But I hear from the news the rivers over your way are swellen pretty high, so be carefull....

let us know how you do... You may even want to dial up a local bait shop near where your are headed for a quick lead... just remember, you are always getting yesterdays news, so if the fish were hitting hot yesterday, they may not be as hot today, but still worth the trip even if all ya get is a little fresh air and some sun....

Sorry Hannah, not sure what happened to the content of the first post so I'll give it another try.

For your purposes, artificial baits would be your alternative to live bait. Find water 4-8 feet deep within casting distance of shore and fan cast small crankbaits, spinnerbaits or twister tail jigs. Lake Mendota contains carp, can be caught using cheese and dough baits dropped on the bottom. Lake-Link website has specific reports for the lakes in your area, good info from local fisherpeople. Pick up a couple fishing magazines, can give you a little more insight into the details. Good luck!
