WOMEN ONLY HUNTING, FISHING CLINIC JULY 12-13
#1
Women who are interested in learning about hunting, fishing and general outdoor skills are invited to a free weekend "Cast and Blast" clinic sponsored by the Colorado Division of Wildlife, July 12-13 at the Lone Cone/Jim Olterman State Wildlife Area.
"This is a great opportunity for women who would like to learn about hunting and fishing or who would like to gain more outdoors skills experience," said Leigh Gillette, the DOW's southwest region education coordinator. "You don't need to have any outdoor experience for this program. Women can learn some new skills in a very supportive atmosphere."

The DOW will supply all equipment and instruction. Women will learn how to handle a shotgun and will get practice by shooting clay pigeons. Participants will also learn the basics of fly fishing.

"We'll even give some pointers on Dutch oven cooking," Gillette said.

Participants must have a Colorado fishing license and a Colorado Wildlife Habitat stamp. A $20 deposit will be taken, but only to hold a place for the clinic. The money will be returned to participants.

Participants can camp at the wildlife area or sleep in the cabin. Those sleeping in the cabin should bring a sleeping bag and pad. Bring your own lunch for July 12, dinner will be provided; breakfast will be provided on July 13.

The clinic is limited to 20 people. The registration deadline is July 7. To register or for more information, call Leigh Gillette at (970)375-6709, or e-mail to: leigh.gillette@state.co.us
