Several summer fisheries open on Columbia River

The summer steelhead season opened on the Columbia River above Tongue Point on Monday, June 16, and fishery managers are expecting a strong run of over 300,000 fish. Only adipose-fin clipped steelhead may be kept.


<br>Summer chinook season will be open from Saturday, June 21 to Saturday, June 28. The aggregate daily bag limit for salmon and steelhead is 2 adult salmonids and 5 chinook jacks. chinook may be fin clipped or not.<br>

<br>Due to unexpectedly large returns, a sockeye salmon season will be open on the Columbia River from Saturday, June 21 to Saturday, June 28. All sockeye are considered adults, regardless of size, and are included in the aggregate daily bag limit for salmon and steelhead of two adults.<br>

<br>Shad fishing is picking up now that water levels are coming down to fishable levels.
