APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE FOR YOUTH AND WOMENS HUNTS IN NW COLORADO
#1
The Colorado Division of Wildlife Hunter Outreach and Women Afield programs are pleased to announce that applications are available for several big game and small game hunts in northwestern Colorado. The hunts are open to young people (age 12-17) or women who are interested in learning how to hunt.
Available hunts for youth include deer, elk, pronghorn, pheasant and duck while available hunts for women include elk, pheasant and spring turkey. Youth hunts and ladies hunts are held separately with the assistance of trained Huntmasters and outreach volunteers from the Colorado Division of Wildlife (DOW) and partners from several sporting organizations. To support this opportunity, several large private landowners have opened their property for these hunts.

Applicants must possess or earn a valid hunter education card prior to submitting the application. Participants must purchase a hunting license, but hunting guides, equipment and meals are provided.

Applications for the hunts are available at DOW offices in Grand Junction, Glenwood Springs, Meeker, Hot Sulphur Springs, and Steamboat Springs. Applications must be completed and returned by Aug. 1. Applicants will be notified by Sept. 1 if they are selected to participate in a hunt.

For more information about the hunts, contact Kathleen Tadvick, education coordinator, at (970) 255-6181.
