Hey there guys,
Did I miss the shad being in the freshwater fish list? Has there been a terrible mistake? Looking at the freshwater fish I can't seem to find the freshwater tarpon! Yes, better known as the humble shad. Shad fishing is fun but here in southern California we ain't got none.
I'll be taking a trip to fish for shad up in central Califonia on the Sacramento and American rivers in June. The shad was brought to California from the East Coast in the 1870's or 1880's but I don't believe they are the Hickory Shad but from further up north.
Anybody have some good info on where the run might be later in the month, please keep me posted later on. I'm headin' up when they hit Red Bluff.
