Brakers
#1
Anybody know anything about the elusive braker trout? I'm kind of curious if anyone has caught one or knows what they look like.

brake trout? it was a experimental hybrid created and stocked to see if it dealt with whirling disease better than rainbows. the program was discontinued in 1997 (i think??). i have seen one picture and very neat lookin fish. dont plan on catching any though, there might be a few left out there. i catn remember where they stocked them. i want to say millmeadows and a hand full of other central waters.

The Brake is the combination of a female Brown Trout, and a male Lake Trout.

Here is a link that tells the whole Utah Brake story.

Anyone know where to see a picture of one of these. Maybe all the big fish I thought were Tigers that I caught one fall were actually Brake. The timing is not too far off. I can imagine they look pretty simalar in color but don't know.
