Ranger Pros Prep for Bass Fishings Biggest Payday
#1
FLIPPIN, Arkansas - When he hoisted the $1 million paycheck in Hot Springs, Arkansas, Ranger Pro Scott Suggs, winner of the 2007 Forrest Wood Cup, became the sole member of a very exclusive club: the only professional bass angler to ever collect a seven-figure payday for winning a single event. But from August 14-17 on South Carolina's Lake Murray, some 60 Ranger Pros will be vying to duplicate Suggs' feat.

The Forrest Wood Cup, the championship event for the FLW Tournament Series, pits anglers from the FLW Tour, FLW Series, Stren Series, BFL All-American and Bass Federation National Championship together for four days of competition. At stake is the championship in the sport's most prestigious event with $500,000 in first-place prize money and a matching $500,000 for Ranger Pros through the Ranger Owners Bonus program.

The Ranger Owners Bonus program and Ranger's industry leading Ranger Cup contingency program have paid out more than $10 million in cash awards and merchandise to qualifying anglers in recent years. By participating, anglers receive bonuses on their tournament finishes throughout the year - plus a chance to turn a single tournament win into $1 million.

"Our entire pro staff does an outstanding job of representing Ranger wherever they go, wherever they fish and we're proud to be associated with all of them," said Ranger Boats President, Randy Hopper. "The Ranger Cup and Owners Bonus Program is a way for us to give back to them, to help reward them for their success on the water, and - in the case of the Forrest Wood Cup - to make history. Winning this tournament can change an angler's life and we're excited to be a part of it."

Of the 77 professional anglers competing in this year's Forrest Wood Cup, more than 75 percent of the field will be competing for Ranger Boats - giving the legendary boat maker a likely chance that Suggs' historic $1 million win will be duplicated this year in Columbia. Included in the field are 2008 FLW Tour Angler of the Year and Ranger Pro David Dudley as well as fellow Ranger Pros and former Forrest Wood Cup winners Brent Ehrler, Dion Hibdon, George Cochran and Luke Clausen, among others.
