Chinook Season on Columbia to Continue as Planned
#1
SALEM - Oregon and Washington fishery managers met in a teleconference Thursday afternoon to review population and fishery information for the Columbia River fall chinook run. The recreational fishery for fall chinook below Bonneville Dam downstream to Tongue Point was scheduled to run from September 1-16. Managers opted to allow that season to continue as planned.

Higher than expected catches in the Buoy 10 fishery earlier this year had prompted some concerns about impacts on fisheries farther upstream.

Retention of adipose fin-clipped coho and adipose fin-clipped steelhead will remain open after September 16 under permanent regulations.
