The Big Wood River opened for salvage Friday, September 12, from below Magic Dam to the Richfield Canal Diversion.
The Magic Valley regional office of the Idaho Department of Fish and Game has extended the salvage order already in place on the Richfield Canal and the Big Wood River.
The Fish and Game was notified of a trout die off in the Big Wood River above the Richfield Diversion Dam. Fish and Game and Department of Environmental Quality personnel evaluated water quality in this reach and found oxygen levels were too low to support trout.
For these reasons, the Idaho Fish and Game opened the Big Wood River downstream from Magic Dam to the Gooding County line, and on the Richfield and Lincoln Canal systems for fish salvage.
Licensed anglers may take the fish by any method except firearms, explosives, chemicals, or electric current, effective September 12 through December 1, 2008.
