REEL ROAD TRIP FEATURES SOUTH FLORIDA FISHING
#1
TORONTO -Each week on Reel Road Trip, a destination-based show on WFN: World Fishing Network and WFN HD, host Mark Melnyk uncovers some of the best fish tales from across North America. The premier of episode #3 -- RRT - "South Florida" is slated for Monday, Oct. 6 at 9:30 pm ET. For a complete schedule, visit www.WFN.tv.

The third episode of the season will take viewer on a wild ride in South Florida with an inside look at the Key West mansion of renowned author and fisherman Ernest Hemingway; a 24 hour fishing excursion for Lemon Shark 15-miles off the coast; a trip to Dania Beach (near Ft. Lauderdale) to the headquarters of the International Game Fishing Association (IGFA.org) and its Hall of Fame. and a visit to Key Largo with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWCC) to see how they are preserving the species and habitats in the Florida area.

"Reel Road Trip is less about teaching anglers how to catch more fish and more about how to become a more informed and educated sportsman," explains Melnyk. "In every episode we try to showcase what makes a city, state or region unique and to profile the people who share our passion for the sport."

In one of RRT's most entertaining segments, the RRT crew went on a night Swordfishing excursion 15 miles out off the coast of Ft. Lauderdale in 2,000 feet of water. Complications abound as the crew encounter many obstacles in their attempt to reel in the big one showcasing the stellar night guiding opportunities Florida has to offer -- from Hurricane Bertha's torrential downpours, to pesky bull sharks, and stealthy cargo freighters. Melnyk and his crew are forced to stay in the water with Both Captain Steve Huddleston and then Captain Jimmy Wickett for nearly 36 hours, straight finally landing a 9 foot Lemon shark saving the segment.

However, it is Melnyk's visit to the FWCC that really puts things in perspective. FCWW officers explain the dangers certain flora and fauna in the area face everyday, and what they are doing to protect these species. The RRT crew tags along for a ride as officers and biologists showcase the importance of the native sea grasses to the Keys"¦ Daily calls included reported sea turtle attacks, boaters speeding, and kids standing destroying a coral reef. Viewers will get to see why it is extremely important to preserve these wildlife areas.
