CORPS OF ENGINEERS WILL RELEASE DRAFT OYSTER ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT TODAY

Annapolis, Md. (Monday, Oct. 13, 2008) - The Norfolk District, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, Virginia Marine Resources Commission, and Maryland Department of Natural Resources will hold a media teleconference on Tuesday, October 14 at 11 a.m. to discuss the Draft Programmatic Environmental Impact Statement for Oyster Restoration in the Chesapeake Bay.

Col. Dionysios Anninos, Norfolk District Commander; Jack Travelstead, VMRC Deputy Commissioner & Chief, Fisheries Management; Tom O'Connell, Director of the Maryland Fisheries Service; and Brian Rothschild, Chairman of the Oyster EIS Scientific Peer Review Panel will be available to answer questions related to the draft EIS.

Interested media must RSVP to ocampbell@dnr.state.md.us or Mark.W.Haviland@usace.army.mil. The teleconference number and access code will be e-mailed to media on Tuesday morning.
