It's a great day to be outdoors !! Beautiful out.

I'm going over to sight in my new gun (early xmas present from the little Mrs.)

I'll post my results tonight along with your fishing report.

The new gun is a 12 Gauge Remington 870 w/riffled barrel & scope. I loaded it up with the sabot slug rounds that claimed they would go 150 yards without dropping an inch.

At 50 yards the thing was dead on. Drilled 2 right through the cardboard deers heart. At 100 yards it was still right on target and I could easily blow through the lungs each time. And the final test.. 150 yards the sabot round held up to it's claims and didn't drop off at all, however they were just a tad left from where I was aiming but not by much.

So all in all it was a succesfull cardboard target deer hunt. The guns shoots great and the rounds live up to their claims. Only problem is they are a bit expensive. ($2.50 each time I pulled the trigger)

My little Mrs says I have no excuses this year not to fill the freezer.

.................ok that was the gun report, so make with the Ausable fishing report already. Did ya catch anything or not?

Any Luck? We landed 4 Kings and 1 steelhead on the Mighty Mo last week. Fishing was steady with some fresh fish in the river but it should be winding down soon!

Drove by your place on the way to the Tippy Dam last week...

ya it was a bit out of the way, but once you missed your turn on 10 in bay city you may as well go up and pick up some Pinconing cheese.[:p] Then stop at mcdonalds in standish for a quick fish sandwich before hitting 61 west.

If I had known you were gittin walleyes I would have belayed the trip to tippy fer a few eyes....[:p]

75 north was closed at bay city, so we took a deture though town looking for 10 west... missed it so we stayed on 13 to 61 and went though gladwin insted of clair....
