Strikemaster ice augers. Not super expensive, yet tough and reliable. They've been around for over 60 years, so you can trust them. Here's a strikemaster promo video, it says it all http://www.strikemaster.com/flash/web_promo.html

Check out the link below for a good model at Cabelas. If you want to power up you can always do that with another model, just depends on how much you want to spend.

[cool][#0000ff]Just like asking for the best rod, reel, line, lure or whatever. You are going to get a lot of individual opinions...based on individual experience. Good as a base to conduct your own research but should not be used as the sole reason for buying or not buying an auger. Do your homework and decide what is best for you...for your style of fishing, your budget, etc.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]I have either owned or used just about every make and model on the market. Most will work...at least some of the time...for some of the people. But, even among the best models, there can be lemons, just like with cars. And even among those that are the cheapest and have the worst reputations there will be guys who have had them for years and swear by them. [/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]In a growing ice fishing market, there is new technology each year...some good, some not so good. Time will tell.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Here is my favorite new entry. Should be great for really tough conditions.[/#0000ff]
