ODFW Fish Screening Task Force to meet in Clackamas
#1
SALEM, Ore. - Oregon's Fish Screening Task Force will meet on Friday, Jan. 9, at the Clackamas ODFW office, 17330 SE Evelyn Street, to discuss both local and statewide projects.

The meeting will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the agenda includes an update on the state fish screening program, projects completed by the Central Point screen shop and screen rules. The meeting is open to the public.

The ODFW Fish Screening Program coordinates a cost share program for the installation of screens at water diversions.

Fish screens prevent the loss of fish when water is used for irrigation, municipal, hydroelectric or other beneficial purposes. They are a crucial part of any system that diverts water from a fish bearing water body. The success of the ODFW screening program depends on water users voluntarily working with the department to install screens.

The Task Force is appointed by the Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission and its members represent agricultural, fisheries and public interests. It meets several times a year to advise the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife on fish screening policies and issues.

Reasonable accommodations are provided as needed for individuals requesting assistive hearing devices, sign language interpreters or large-print materials. Individuals needing these types of accommodations may call the Information and Education Division at 800-720-6339 or 503-947-6002 at least 24 hours before the meeting. For more information, call Alan Ritchey, Statewide Fish Screening Coordinator, at 503-947-6229.
