NY Ice fishing in full swing
#1
All across the state the ice is there, Myself I've been out 4 times in the last week on local waters here in Rensselaer county. I haven't used the tipups but the jigging has been good. I managed crappie, small mouth bass, perch and a mess of blue gills that fill your hand. I've been using my Fluger ice pole and reel combo wound with 1 lb. test fireline and used a surgeons knot to attach a white eye with a number 10 hook, tipped with a couple of spikes. This has proved deadly for the fish. To locate the fish I use a lowrance 67-c in ice mode. This machine gives me the ability to use the flasher and the graph [ this gives me the history of were the fish came from and also where it went if it doesn't strike]. I can switch back and forth as I need.
Lake George is capped over and should be ready for ATV's and snow machines this weekend. I'm hitting that on Monday. Stay on top Chief
