Daiwa 1000 series
#1
I found this old Daiwa 1000 series rod, the sticker on it says 1027c 9ft. Anyone know anything about this rod? I'm fairly certain it's a saltwater rod, but not sure what line size or lure weight to use with it. Any info would be greatly appreciated.

The Diawa 1000 series rod in the 9ft length is a good surf fishing rod. Match that up with the Diawa DTE 750 reel spooled with 15 or 20lb test and you can use it to catch just about anything in your area.

As with any surf fishing rod, you will generally limit your weight to just what you need to clear the breaking waves. West Coast, 1/2 to 1 oz is good. East Coast, 1 to 3 oz maximum is recommended. Southern exposed beaches can also be 1/2 to 1oz.[cool]
