arkansas part 2

here you go!

started at Hayden medows above twin. at 845am water temp was 40 even, and clearity was at about 2 feet. once the sun peeked out of the clouds, the water temp sky rocketed and so did the clarity. i have no idea how many fish i landed, but i did hook one monster brown that i got a look at until he spit my fly in my face. was fishing a caddis foamy, with a prince nymph underneath. longest cast i made was about 15 feet. every fish i got was inches from shore hiding in the under cuts. sure was neat seeing the few risers come out of the murkiness and nail that dry. 85% of the fish were caught on the nymph. water warmed up to 54 around 4'ish and the caddis started flying, then it was on like donkey kong.

Glad that you had a good day on Hayden Meadows. The few times I have fished Hayden meadows I have not done well. Now there was day above hayden meadows I had a great day.

A caddis nymph I had tied up with a green thread with sparkle in it was the ticket that day but it has never worked well since then.

My buddy was having a tough day on one of our trips to Hayden meadows until he found a large black hopper fly that a guy had lost in the bushes. He said he had good success after he tied that black hopper on.

A couple of weeks later we disected the fly. We wanted to figure out how it was made. But my I have yet to make an exact replica that floats the same. The one of the strange things about this fly is that the dubbing is black but when I take a picture of it the dubbing it has a ruby tinge to it that makes it look dark red more than black.
