Mississippi River Challenge location changed to Fort Snelling State Park due to bridge collapse 8/3/07
Due to the tragic Interstate 35W highway bridge collapse, the starting point for the annual Mississippi River Challenge canoe and kayak paddle has been changed from the Coon Rapids Dam Regional Park to Fort Snelling State Park.
The event, sponsored by the Friends of the Mississippi River, will be held on Sunday, Aug. 5.<br />
All paddlers must check in at Fort Snelling State Park on Saturday between noon and 5 p.m. Gear and boats can be dropped off at the check-in. Rental boats will be assigned at that time.<br />
