My wot is red here!
#1
I very recently joined and my wot was green when I came to this site. Now suddenly it has become a dark red, showing problems lurking such as infections or trojans. Wot is very reliable, has saved me plenty of times.

hi there spring kitty.. kind of an unusual first post but Ill roll with it..

as you say if your Web of Trust (WOT) is red you have potential problems.. since I dont know what virus/malware software you have loaded Ill just tell you what I do or have..

I have a good anti virus software loaded (symantec) and try to keep it updated.. in addition to that I have Glary utilities loaded and run that thru at least twice a day to keep things running smoothly.. and lastly (and recently used this on adware problem) I have malwarebytes loaded and run that as I see problems.. or potential problems pop up on me..

hope this helps.. in the meantime.. welcome to the site.. hope you enjoy your stay.. .

[#008000][Image: happy.gif]Hi Ms Kitty and welcome to our site. These days one encounters an array of bugs [not used for fly fishing] that can make one lose sleep. It could be a virus, malware or spyware. Try running any of these at your home page to see if you can correct the problem. As far as picking up a bug at the BFT is rather doubtful. I have been a member on this site for six years and have never encountered a problem. I run my Malwarebytes [free download] Superantispyware and McAfee at least once a week to keep my system clean. Might try doing the same. Good luck.[/#008000]

Hi dryrod,
I have been here several times with no problems at all, my wot has always been green here except for today.
I have avast, spybot s&D, windows Defender, malwarebytes, spyware blaster and cCleaners so no problem with my protection. I keep them updated and scan 3 times weekly, of course avast scans daily.
Just thought someone should know. I enjoy the forum but am hoping someone can locate the problem here so I can return saftely.

Hi, Dryrod, I did that and nothing helped, my protections in safe mode shows a "Predator Cookie" on this site. Will everyone else look at their wots and see what it shows? Also when you run your protection in safe mode what descriptions do you get? I just thought ppl who own this wonderful site should be aware of this. Now I am going to clean my pc again, my wot is very red. Hope everyone has a nice and safe weekend.

[#008000][Image: happy.gif]Hi Kitty - I just installed WOT and it showed the link site as red. Now if it was a problem site McAfee would have identified it as a problem for me. BTW Cookies are a way of life on the internet, so I wouldn't be that concerned about it.[/#008000] [Image: bobwink.gif]

Thanks, dryrod, I have avast and also when I came here this morning to post this, although my wot is red, I didnt have a Predator Cookie. I fully checked my pc. Yes, I know cookies are important on the internet but I also know a "predator cookie" carries (usually) trojans and infections that are nasty. Hope you and yours have a good and safe weekend.
