DAV day 8 Aug.

Haven't heard much on this lately, do we have enough boats to handle the fisherman or more boats than fisherman. What time will this kick off on the 8th and what is planned as far as launch, return, BBQ etc?

[#800000]To the best of my knowledge, this information is still good. I know that I am planning to be at Soldier Creek at 06:00 to help launch the flotilla. There is a meeting tenatively scheduled for July 25th to firm everything up.[/#800000]

[#800000]I'm sure Bob will post an update soon.[/#800000]

Haven't heard much on this lately, do we have enough boats to handle the fisherman or more boats than fisherman.
[#800000]We have 36 boats signed up that can potentially handle up to 65 veterans total. According to the latest information I have from the VA contact, there are 32 veterans currently signed up to participate in the event. It is expected that some of those may back out and that some more will sign up. So the 36 boats we currently have signed up should be about right. We do not need more boats at this point in time.[/#800000]

What time will this kick off on the 8th and what is planned as far as launch, return, BBQ etc?
[#800000]None of that has changed with the exception of the actual go time to start fishing. We still plan on launching boats starting at 6:00 AM. But seeing as this is a patriotic event to honor military veterans, a flag raising ceremony has been arranged for and will take place upon the arrival of the veterans from SLC. The veterans should arrive at Soldier Creek between 7:00 and 7:30 AM. The flag ceremony will take place as soon as possible after their arrival. Then the veterans will be placed on their assigned boats and the fishing will commence.[/#800000]

[#800000]The fishing is scheduled to continue until at least 1:00 PM. At this time, the boats should start returning to the Soldier Creek marina. After returning to the marina, all participants should proceed to the Pavilion for the BBQ lunch, which will start at 2:00 PM. After lunch is over, the veterans will be returned to SLC and the volunteers are free to leave or continue fishing for the rest of the day.[/#800000]
[#800000][/#800000]
[#800000]We will be having a meeting next week to finalize the plans for the event and coordinate the efforts of the different activities. The minutes of that meeting will be posted on BFT for all to see and all boat volunteers will be contacted by me via either direct email or a phone call to verify your participation.[/#800000]
