Winyah and Santee Bay help?
#1
Been fishing a few times this year and all i can catch worth keeping are croakers. I've been fishing around oyster beds, docks and any other structure i can find and have been having no luck. Usually i use shrimp or mud minnows and occasionally an artifitial minnow. looking for spot tail, flounder , any thing but a croaker. any good tips?

Mmmmm.

Mud minnows are good for flounder. Make sure when you rig them, you rig it light. 1/2 ounce sinker on a carolina rig. Fluorocarbon leader is you're so inclined.

Make sure you're fishing a moving tide. Live mullet and live shrimp are all good baits. Creek mouths and oyster beds are also good spots. You might not be holding your mouth right.

Saltwater assasin, mirror lures, top water poppers are all good artificials.

I'll tell you a little secret, this time of year is tough inshore. You've just got to keep trying until you find something that works. But don't fret, fall is right around the corner and the inshore stuff will turn on again.
