[font "Times New Roman"][size 3]This week excellent top-water action could be found in the inner-harbor bays early in the morning. Some good-size keeper bass and both small and large blues are in the upper reaches of the harbors and bays. Blues this early is atypical in Boston. That said the fishing was relatively slow this week, especially for the numbers of bass. [/size][/font]

[font "Times New Roman"][size 3]Traveling anglers John Sensenich and friend for Berwyn, PA fished three days on Monday through Wednesday. Monday’s early morning blitz in Hingham bays produced the best numbers of bass for three days. White Slug-gos on 5/0 offset worm hooks brought great surface action and was one of the best lures for the PA anglers. John was high rod for the week landing 6 keepers and his two personal best bass at 35” and 38”, tipping the scales at 18 and 20 pounds.[/size][/font]

[font "Times New Roman"][size 3]Long time client Ed Ajamian and friend Roy from Skillman, NJ fished the end of the week and found plenty of bass swirling on the surface with lockjaw. 90 degrees temps, no wind and soft tides appeared to be the culprit. Nevertheless, the fish did turn on at the late morning tide change on the outer-harbor flats. Herring patterns and gray and white Half & Halfs worked well on the long rod as did large Bassin’ Assassins on spinning gear. Numerous keeper bass, covered with sea-lice, came over the rails in the short-lived blitz.[/size][/font]

[font "Times New Roman"][size 3]Saturday’s weather change sparked by the NW wind turned the bass on in the outer harbor flats. Both Andrew Budway and friend John from Medford, MA fishing on the B-FAST and Scott Sullivan and friends from West Hartford, CT fishing on the BAY FLY had multiple keeper trips. Again the numbers of fish is way down but the size of the bass made up for this. By far, surface presented Bassin’ Assassins were most productive followed by large herring imitator patterns on the fly rod. John took a 35”, 18 pound keeper and 3 other on the B-FAST, while the BAY Fly accounted for 5 keepers to 34 inches for Scott Sullivan’s group.[/size][/font]
