Hot Day In The Bay, Jet Ski Fishing 8/10/09
#1
Departed Messick in Poquoson at 0615 to a steamy sunrise and 1-2 seas so I was able to average 45 mph to the 1st Island of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge Tunnel. I bottom fished in several areas and caught several throw back flounder on jigs and a squid minnow combo. Had the typical bycatch of sea bass, toads and croaker. By 1130 it was getting pretty hot so I decided to run around and look for some cobia. I manged three little ones up to 32 inches using eels, one of them in open water and the other two were on bouys in the Baltimore Channel. I also caught a medium size shark when I cast into a school of bunker. By 1500 hrs I had enough fun, sun and heat so I headed back in. Covered 48 miles and burned 10.2 gals. Here are some pictures.
