Cedar River Gladwin Mi. Report
#1

Plans were to do some salmon fishing at Manastee on Saturday but with the sisters families being up for a visit well, planes changed.
They had the idea to Kayak on Hoister Lake in the Gladwin Field trial unit which gave me the opportunity to get the fly rod out for a few hours of catch and release brown trout and brookie fishing on the upper stretch of the Cedar River in the unit .

I started from the base of Hoister Lake and worked my way down stream and caught several small browns at first . The stream isn't all that deep other than finding the occasional silt filled hole up to my waist . enchant man made cuts were found here and there that were in need of desperate repair .
The brookies started to show after the fork in the river, so did a couple bear cubs . Thats when I had to back out of the area as quietly as possible .
There aren't any pics of the fish , I try not to bring them up out of the water , a quick forcepts release is pretty much my way of making sure the fish will live for another day .
All in all maybe a good 20 - 25 browns all under the legal size and of the 8 brookies 3 were well over keeper size .

I'm doing some wallpapers for the computer and if you would like to use them yourself heres the link , enjoy . I'll be adding more in the months ahead .
