I find it hard to get excited about the fishing with the thoughts of the tragedy always there. It is amazing how a bent rod and screaming drag will over ride the moment and give a few minutes of release from this mess we have right now. <br><br>The fall has done what it always will, the bait and the gamefish are heading south. I found the first schools of finger mullet in the canals this week. Big schools of larger mullet coming down the beach too. A few tarpon, jacks and shark are hanging around the bait and taking a shot every now and then. <br><br>Lots of bait pushing south offshore too. The kingfish bit real well and the dolphin are showing up in groups, jumping the baits and continuing south quickly. I have seen many VERY small ones. Be sure to let them grow and wait for the larger ones to show before putting them on ice. <br><br>Although the fishing is good there aren't many anglers taking advantage. This is always the quietest time of the year for fishing participation and the events have made it that much slower. If you are looking for a way to find a little bit of normal in your life get out on the water. It does have that special way of taking you as close to total relaxation as you will get.
