(Virginia Beach, Va., December 15, 2009) - Anglers are invited to cast a line at the 7th Annual Waterman's Mid-Atlantic Rockfish Shootout presented by the City of Virginia Beach and Bass Pro Shops, the largest and richest striped bass tournament in the country- with a total tournament payout to the top 14 teams of over $200,000. Hosted out of Rudee Inlet in Virginia Beach and drawing participants from across the country, the Waterman's Rockfish Shootout runs from January 7-9, 2010.

The entry fee for the Waterman's Rockfish Shootout is $499 and includes five breakfast and banquet tickets to Waterman's. Participants must register before December 28 for a chance to win $5,000 in the early bird entry raffles.

This is a team tournament and there must be at least two team members per entry. Boats can launch from any inlet in Virginia, but are required to weigh-in at Lynnhaven's Long Bay Point Marina or Rudee Inlet's Virginia Beach Fishing Center. Lines are to be in the water at 8 a.m. and out at 2 p.m. In 2009, 220 teams participated with first-place artificial class receiving over $68,000 and first-place open class receiving over $35,000.
