I like silver thread, Polar Ice Line, Trileine, Berkley.. I havent had any problems with the ice fishing class lines.

I even use bas pro's multi colored crappie line for ice fishing when targeting perch and crappie. it is called Crappie line. Its not an ice fishing line but works well, it is a 4 pound test.

You are right in that one should use an ice fishing line in the winter because it is limp with no memory at all. "unless it gets old"

I am getting ready to pull my slamer out.
its about time. [cool]

we have a few spots where I want to target some deap fishing, between 40 foot and 120 foot.

I will be targeting Walleye, Pike, Rainbow Trout...

what weight line would you suggest in the Pline series? and will I need steal leader or should I just stick with the 40 pound leader line?

Ice fishing line is not made exactly as regular line, It will sucumb to the heat and sun a little more than regular line, so it is important to change it every year.

when it starts to get old it will tend to stay curly or snap and break easily.

but yes, I am a big fan of the ice fishing lines. they tend to be smaller diamiter, and when ice fishing, that is the biggest differance between going fishing and catching fish.
