Kona March

Hi All, My wife and I and some friends are going to be staying in Kona the week of March22 and would like to do some fishing. We have never fished in Hawaii before and would like to get an idea of what to expect.. Types of fish,charter rates, etc. We were also wondering how the shore fishing is around Kona and are there places that we could rent gear to do so? Any info would greatly be appreciated.
