FISHING SPOTS THIS WEEKEND
#1
in the Whittemore-Hale area the pike and bass fishing on most inland lakes is very good, though the bluegill fishing has only been fair as of late.

the bluegill fishing has been good between Loud and Cooke dams. The walleye fishing is starting to heat up in the AuGres area in front of the Hotel and as far north as the Rifle Bar.

fishing on Lake Huron for salmon and lake trout has been slow as of late, though walleye fishermen are still having good luck around Buoy 2. A few gill have been caught in Tawas Lake as well as a few pike and bass from the East Tawas Dock.

the crappie and perch fishing was very good on Cooke and Foote Ponds for those fishermen that knew the area. a lot of bass and pike have also been taken on the Ponds and in between as well. Van Etten Lake is fair for smaller perch and a few pike.

in Oscoda , reports that after a slow week of big lake fishing, it is starting to pick up. Sunday the salmon hit very well with some kings going 15 lbs and the average between 8 and 10 pounds.

the smallmouth fishing in the lower AuSable has been outstanding and that catfishing in the lower river is also still good.

burt lake in cheboygan , the walleye are scattered and slow to bite , there being really fussy right now . smallies and pike are pretty good in the rivers just before dusk , nightcrawlers on a bobber rock !

detour sports on the road to the drummond isle ferry is hosting a salmon contest this saturday with over $3000.00 in cash prises and a free derby hat and beverage cooler donated by local businesses .
