Learn to ice fish at "Becoming an Outdoors Woman" workshop
#1
CONCORD, N.H. - The New Hampshire Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) winter program, scheduled for Saturday, February 20, 2010 (snow date February 21), still has space available in the women's "Ice Fishing Fun" class. Ice fishing is one of the most popular winter activities in New Hampshire - a great way to beat the winter blues by getting out into the fresh air and sunshine. In this class, you'll spend the day getting hands-on experience drilling holes and dropping lines with a fun group of women, learning everything you need to know to get out and enjoy ice fishing on your own. You'll also get to sample a fish fry, hot chocolate and other gourmet goodies from a portable kitchen on the ice. No fishing license is needed to participate in the workshop. Register soon - space in this class won't last long!

The one-day Winter BOW workshop will be held at Fish and Game's Owl Brook Hunter Education Center in Holderness, N.H., just minutes from I-93. The $55 registration fee includes a box lunch and all the equipment you'll need for the day. Participants must be at least 18 years old. The registration form and course description are available at http://www.nhbow.com or call (603) 271-3212 to request an application by mail.

Here's what some of last year's Winter BOW Ice Fishing participants had to say about the class:

* "All the people were so nice - fish fry - yum!"

* "It was all terrific, every last minute was incredible, THANK YOU, I am a first timer to the BOW program and I think you've created a lifer."

* "The best part of the day was seeing the excitement on the faces of participants when anyone caught a fish."

* "Ice fishing was originally my third choice, but I was very glad to be in it; you were right, it WAS the best class."

New Hampshire BOW is co-sponsored by the N.H. Wildlife Federation (http://www.nhwf.org) and the N.H. Fish and Game Department (http://www.wildnh.com). Visit http://www.nhbow.com.
