Proposed Fishing Reg Changes to be Discussed July 29
#1
WATERBURY, VERMONT -- The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department will hold a public information meeting to present a proposal for fishing regulation changes on the Clyde River with a goal of benefitting landlocked salmon.

The meeting will be held on Wednesday, July 29, at 7:00 p.m. in the 3rd floor conference room of the Emory Hebbard State Office Building on Main Street in Newport. The meeting will include a presentation and an opportunity for questions.

If you fish the Clyde River and its lakes and ponds between Newport and West Charleston, you will be interested in proposed regulation changes and may wish to attend this meeting.

An experimental "Test Water" regulation would extend upstream to West Charleston the existing requirement for artificial flies and lures and catch-and-release salmon fishing from October 1-31 that applies now on the lower Clyde River. This would include Clyde Pond, Big Salem Lake and Little Salem Lake.

A separate regulation would close the immediate area of the entrance of the fish ladder at the Newport #1,2,3 powerhouse to fishing during the period when the fish ladder operation coincides with open fishing seasons in September and October, and in April and May.
