VERMONT FISHING ACCESS INFO AVAILABLE ON WEB
#1
WATERBURY, VERMONT - Planning a fishing or boating trip in Vermont just got easier. The Vermont Fish & Wildlife Department has developed a website to help boaters find access points to lakes and larger rivers for fishing and other recreational opportunities.

The website will help users get information such as directions to the access area and what fish species may be caught nearby. Visitors to the website can refine their search to locate access areas within a specific county or on a body of water, and they can select areas with docks.

All department fishing access areas are provided free to the public for angling and boat access. Of the department's 168 fishing access areas, 128 have a ramp for launching of boats. Those without ramps provide carry-in boat access or shore fishing opportunities.

Recreational opportunities abound this summer for people to get out and fish or just enjoy the water. Vermont's Free Fishing Day is this Saturday, June 13. Anyone, young or old, may fish free for a day. The LCI Father's Day Fishing Derby takes place June 20-22 on Lake Champlain, and participants can search for Lake Champlain's 31 Vermont access areas to fish from or launch boats.
